Lost in thought

I have been chasing the light with a camera for a very long time. I studied at the University of Hawaii with Frank Salmoraghi and Norman Shapiro. I did commercial work for a while, but didn't like it much - too commercial maybe? There were so many changes in my life and I let it go. So I did my woodwork. I turned hurricane lamps on the lathe and did craft work. I built barns and I built houses. We started a cabinet shop and quickly went from residential to commercial to building exhibits and displays.

Alcove

Now I'm back with it. I have to force the time away from all of my other work and home tasks. I have to make the time to shoot.

I take snapshots in color, but I almost always work in black and white. Paul Simon can have his Kodachrome, no offense...feelings show up better in black and white. There's a certain drama to it.

Old leaves

So, what do i take pictures of? Mostly of women; it is what i do well. I like to create sensual images, ones where you not only see the persons's body, but also where you get a feeling for the personality, of the spirit.

Recently i've started shooting other things a little more - nature, still lifes, even a little bit of architecture. I wonder - Is it possible to approach these other subjects with a little bit of the same sensuality that i find in women?

The Web has opened up a world wide cyber gallery, allowing a photographer to share images with people just about anywhere. I have seen quality work from artists all over this country, and from as far away as Britain, Belgium, Japan and Australia. Now I am getting a chance to share some of my images.

Trusting friend

This is what I do best. If I can spend a little time with a model. Get her to talk - talk about most anything, but forget the darned camera.

Often something special will emerge. It is wrapped in the light and is quickly captured. Magically!

Torn between

So this is my little on-line gallery - just a few images that I'd like to share with you. I hope you enjoy them. I've finally (Jan '98) gotten around to changing these images out. We had been hoping to have our new gallery up and running by now, but when our hard drive died we lost all of the layouts. Hopefully we will be able to retrieve the data and get this finished before too long.

Holding closely

Presently, I am working on a portfolio of erotic images and am in need of female models. If you are in the middle Tennessee New Orleans area, and would like to be photographed, please get in touch.
